Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett was set up for next week's Main Event. ... Heel ref Brad Maddox has been suspended indefinitely and a "formal inquiry" into his Hell in a Cell main event actions will begin this week. ... Vickie Guerrero will present more "evidence" on the A.J. & Cena "scandal" this Monday on Raw.
The Halloween edition of Main Event opened with a live crowd shot before Michael Cole introduced the show. Cole offered some credibility-killing hyperbole on the heel ref situation involving Brad Maddox at Hell in a Cell, then introduced a video package from Sunday's PPV.
Cole and JBL were then shown on-camera at the announce position. JBL said he's never seen a more disgusting thing in his WWE tenure. Cole said Maddox has been indefinitely suspended and there will be a formal inquiry on his actions at WWE headquarters this week. Cole and JBL then transitioned to focus on the Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton feud, setting up a six-man tag mach tonight.
In-ring: Tony Chimel was standing by to introduce Ricardo Rodriguez, who introduced Del Rio as the first participant in a Survivor Series preview match, although it won't be elimination-style. As Del Rio sauntered out, WWE went to a background video piece on the character's Mexican heritage. Back in the arena, Prime Time Players's music played to bring out Del Rio's partners.
First out for the babyface trio was Rey Mysterio, followed by Sin Cara. Last out was Randy Orton. Cole then sent the show to commercial with Orton making his way to the ring.

1 -- RANDY ORTON & REY MYSTERIO & SIN CARA vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO & PRIME TIME PLAYERS (TITUS O'NEIL & DARREN YOUNG) -- six-man tag match
Back from break, Cole plugged Orton on Team Foley and Del Rio on Team Punk in a traditional Survivor Series match at the next PPV. Sin Cara and D-Young started things off, then Cara tagged in Orton, which drew a strong reaction from the crowd. Orton milked his entrance before entering the ring to work on D-Young. The heels took over, though, and double-teamed Orton until he broke free to tag in Rey-Rey. After some back-and-forth between Rey and Del Rio, Rey scampered to his corner to tag in Orton. Orton came in ready for a piece of Del Rio, and Main Event went to break with the rivals in face-off mode.

Back from break, Titus and Orton were locked up center-ring. Very interesting look at a potential singles feud next year. Orton made his way to the corner to bring in Cara, who delivered high-flying offense to Titus. D-Young then ran interference to give the heels the advantage again. The heels traded tags to work on Cara, then Rey re-entered at 12:30. Rey smashed D-Young with kicks before Young blocked Rey from attempting a springboard move. Rey crashed to the floor, then both sides had a stand-off ringside leading to break.

Back from break at 16:30, D-Young was in control of the action working on Rey. Del Rio then re-entered to maintain the heel trio's advantage over Rey. Titus then pulled off a great cut-off-the-tag-move by yanking Rey by the ankles underneath his body and back to the heel corner. The heels continued to isolate Rey until Mr. 619 broke free at 20:20 to tag in Orton. Orton went through the PTPers before getting his hands on Del Rio with a powerslam.
Orton went to That Place and stalked Del Rio for the RKO, but Del Rio slipped underneath the ring apron. No matter, as Orton grappled Del Rio on the second rope, cackled, and delivered a snap DDT. Orton then wanted an RKO, but the PTPers jumped him from behind. The action broke down with several bodies in the ring before Cara set up Del Rio for a 619 from Rey. Orton then dropped Del Rio with an emphatic RKO to complete the triple-play. Orton with the pin and the win.
Post-match: Orton and Co. stood tall in the ring and hugged after their successful night in the ring. Matt Striker then entered the ring to interview the team. Rey shouted out to Orton for leading them to victory over Del Rio. Rey then noted that he and Sin Cara are looking for another shot at the Tag Titles. Cara echoed Rey's comments in Spanish and Rey re-emphasized that they want to be tag champs. Finally, Striker brought in Orton. He said they all sent a message to Del Rio that there's only one Apex Predator. Cue up Orton's music to close the segment.
WINNERS: Team Orton at 21:40. A good old fashioned, feel-good, Wednesday night six-man tag match. Good inclusion of the Players to get them in the mix with some established stars.

Backstage: Josh Mathews was standing by for an interview. Mathews then brought in Prime Time Players, who complained about Rey & Cara. Titus guaranteed that the Players will prove they are the best tag team in WWE and if it takes them until WrestleMania 29, they will prove to be the best team in WWE. Del Rio then jumped in and vowed to get revenge on Orton, giving him a warning.
Back to the announcers, JBL plugged Smackdown this Friday. Cole then transitioned to the "A.J. Scandal" storyline, and went back to events from Monday's Raw. Cue up a video from Raw of John Cena having all the answers to respond to Vickie's "evidence" of an alleged affair between A.J. and Cena.
Back to the announcers, Cole said that Vickie claims to have more evidence on the A.J. scandal, including security footage from the hotel on the floor where Cena's and A.J.'s rooms were located. Cole said they will see Vickie's evidence this Monday on Raw. JBL said there must be something there and he can't wait to find out what it is.
In-ring: Wade Barrett made his way out to the ring as Cole repeated a line about Barrett being on a roll since returning to WWE from injury, ignoring that he just lost to Orton two nights ago on Raw. A super-tanned Tyson Kidd then came out to face Barrett.

2 -- WADE BARRETT vs. TYSON KIDD
Back from break, the match was in-progress with Barrett in control. Kidd came back with kick strikes to the thigh, followed by kick strikes to the back. But, Barrett came right back with the Winds of Change, which the announcers are simply calling a tilt-a-whirl sideslam these days. Barrett then took Kidd up-top, where Kidd broke free and delivered a missile dropkick for a two count. That was Kidd's last gasp, as Barrett came back with a Souvenir Elbow for the pin and the win.
WINNER: Barrett at 3:35.
Post-match: Barrett took the mic and said that was quite impressive. He said he just beat the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon in less than five minutes. Barrett then re-directed his attention to Sheamus. He said as someone who has previously beaten Sheamus, he wasn't surprised to see Sheamus lose the World Title. Barrett then vowed to become World champ, which brought Sheamus out on-stage for an interruption. Sheamus talked English vs. Irish feud, then said he just doesn't like Barrett. He said he can't wait to face Big Show for the World Title again, but until then, he would be very happy to put Barrett in his place. Sheamus challenged Barrett to a singles match on next week's Main Event because "it's time to fight."
Barrett sarcastically thanked Sheamus for his kind words about the English and noted he hates Sheamus. He said perhaps Show rocked Sheamus's brain, but he just challenged him to a match next week in England. "And, I don't lose in England," he said. Sheamus replied, "There's a first for everything." He then vowed to kick Barrett's arse next week in England. But, why wait for then? Sheamus charged the ring to scrap with Barrett, but Barrett dipped out of the ring to wait for homefield advantage next week in England. As Sheamus's music played, WWE showed footage from Raw of Sheamus "snapping" on Big Show with White Noise. Back to real-time, Sheamus stood tall to set up next week's main event.
